CD Suspends Baffert Two Years After Medina Spirit's Positive Test

(Louisville, KY) - Horse trainer Bob Baffert has been suspended from Churchill Downs in Kentucky for two years. 

News of the suspension that takes effect right away following a second positive drug test by Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit.

The CEO of Churchill Downs Incorporated went after Baffert in a statement. Bill Carstanjen said, "Baffert's record of testing failures threatens public confidence in thoroughbred racing and the reputation of the Kentucky Derby." 

The suspension means "Baffert, or any trainer directly or indirectly employed" by his group can't enter a horse in any race at Churchill Downs.
