Gov. Beshear Recommends In-Person Classes Delay

Empty Chairs In Classroom At School

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Beshear is recommending Kentucky schools districts delay in-person learning until the end of September.

During his COVID-19 briefing, the governor asked schools not begin in-person learning until September 28.

Beshear says his decision was based on data showing Kentucky at its peak for COVID-19 cases and an increase in the rate of infection among children.

The governor says trying to resume in-person classes during the state’s peak would “defy logic.”

Beshear also issued new orders for bars and restaurants as the state continues to battle COVID-19. They can open at 50% capacity.  However, all customers must be seated -- no congregating at the bar.

All food & drink service must stop by 10 p.m. and bars and restaurants must close by 11 p.m. All staff and customers must wear masks.
