(Lexington, KY) - The office of Kentucky U.S. Congressman Andy Barr says his wife Carol has died suddenly.
Barr's Chief of Staff Mary Rosado confirmed the death at the family's home.
The Fayette County Coroner's office says the preliminary autopsy found that Barr died from a heart condition known as “floppy valve syndrome.” She was 39-years-old.
U.S. Rep. Andy Barr released a statement on the passing of his wife, calling her “ the greatest, most selfless and giving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend anyone could ever have.” The Kentucky Republican goes on to say “In this moment of profound grief and heartbreak, we are so grateful for the gift and blessing of Carol’s life.”
The Barrs have two daughters. The Congressman has served the Sixth District of Kentucky since 2013.
