(Lexington, KY) - The Kentucky High School Athletic Association will not allow students in the state to participate in esports competitions of the game Fortnite.
The online video game includes shooting and survival modes and is being offered by esports partner Play VS for competitive play.
Commissioner Julian Tackett says the KHSAA had no knowledge of the addition and is strongly against it, saying shooter games don't belong in high school competitions.
Tackett says the move puts the future of the program at risk.
