(Louisville, KY) - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is WholeFoods Magazine's Person of the Year.
The Kentucky Republican tweeted Wednesday that he was being recognized as influential in working to legalize industrial hemp.
The editor of the magazine praised McConnell for his work to end the prohibition on hemp that started in 2014.
Austin-based Whole Foods Market put out a statement Thursday that it isn't affiliated with the magazine when Twitter users started to call for a boycott on the chain.
