One of the hardest jobs for most parents is to get their kids to eat vegetables. It's so challenging that there are even cookbooks dedicated to hiding veggies in meals so that children unknowingly swallow the crucial nutrients. Now, Kraft is helping parents by introducing a salad dressing product they're calling "Kraft Salad 'Frosting.'" It's part of their #LieLikeAParent campaign because the "frosting" is actually just cleverly packaged ranch dressing.
A press release about the product explains, "According to a recent study, ranch dressing is the most popular dressing in the United States, and kids will eat anything with frosting, right? It’s a match made for dinnertime bliss. Now, convincing children to eat salad, broccoli and carrots may be a whole lot easier. Just add Kraft Salad ‘Frosting.’”
It goes on to say, "Simple innocent lies are not only part of parenthood, but a true tactic used by parents everywhere. Kraft Salad 'Frosting' is one lie you won’t feel bad telling your kids."
To help promote the "frosting," Kraft is holding a contest where parents can tweet out the best lie they've told their kid, using the hashtags #LieLikeAParent and #contest, for the chance to win some of the "frosting."
One thing to point out though is that ranch dressing has 110 calories and 11 grams of fat per every two tablespoons, while frosting like Pillsbury's Creamy Supreme has 140 calories and five grams of fat for the same amount. Of course, frosting also boasts 20 grams of sugar while ranch only has 1 gram for that serving size.
