GLENDALE, Ky. - Ford is bringing thousands of new jobs to Kentucky.

The automaker announced it is building an automotive battery facility in Glendale in Hardin County that will create 5,000 jobs.

The BlueOvalSK Battery Park will consist of twin battery plants that will power a new lineup of Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles coming to market later this decade. Production of advanced lithium-ion batteries will begin in 2025.

The announcement comes on the heels of a $410 million economic development package approved by the Kentucky legislature earlier this month. It offers incentives for projects topping $2 billion.

Ford is investing more than $11 billion to build both the Glendale, Kentucky plant and a similar facility in west Tennessee.
