KDE Wants Names Of Teachers Called Out During Legislative Session

(Frankfort, KY) - The Kentucky Department of Education wants the names of teachers who participated in sick-outs during the latest legislative session.

KDE officials sent an email to ten school districts, including JCPS, yesterday requesting the names.

They also asked for any documents saying employees were sick or caring for someone else, as well as policies of the districts for collecting and confirming absences due to illness.

Dr. Wayne Lewis joined The Leland Conway Show on NewsRadio 840 WHAS to discuss why he wants this information.

Lewis is allowed to access teachers' records to determine if districts are upholding state law.
