Fischer: Metro Council Budget Compromise "Far From Perfect Solution"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Mayor Fischer has concerns about a tax hike compromise from the Metro Council.

The compromise would only increase the insurance premium tax by five percent but calls for $15 million to be cut from the budget. Fischer, who is calling for a ten percent hike with no cuts, says that plan is "far from a perfect solution."

He warns the Council plan would still result in cuts to city services starting July 1, including cuts to police and fire along with the closure of a library branch.

The full Metro Council will take up the budget situation at their meeting this Thursday night.
