Alabama Senate Race Difficult To Predict

The outcome of today's big Senate runoff election in Alabama is anyone's guess.  Some polls have Republican Roy Moore with a slight lead over Democrat Doug Jones but a new Fox News survey has Jones up, 50-40%.

Meanwhile, the new poll from Emerson College gives Moore a 9 point advantage over Jones. Alabama is a very conservative state and rarely elects Democrats but Moore's past has raised a lot of dust.  Moore has rejected numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.

President Donald Trump is investing a lot of political capital in Moore and recorded a weekend robocall for the retired judge.  Over the weekend, Alabama Republican Senator Richard Shelby told CNN that he could not vote for Roy Moore.

Congressional Republican leaders urged Moore to drop out of the race and acknowledge that they probably cannot keep him out of the Senate.  If he wins, Moore would likely be greeted with a Senate ethics investigation.
